Welcome to my ever-evolving digital home! Here’s my Artist Statement and here’s my CV. The trusty “about” page also unravels many mysteries.
My art practice includes painting, textile art and book art. For all of these, I seek out materials that have their own history. It’s thrilling to search through materials with a past lives, finding the clues to visual stories.
Some of my paintings are made on collaged surfaces, thick with layers of found papers, reclaimed fabric, foraged botanicals, scavenged objects. I repeat the layering process, working in other media, such as ink, graphite, sequins, and stones. These are what I call “stratified paintings,” and they can be quite dimensional. I use an adapted version of this technique for my books, and carry its philosophy into my textile pieces, which are mostly made from reclaimed fabrics and fibers.
I also enjoy working with monotypes and other printmaking techniques that doesn’t require a press, watercolor, soft sculpture… and whatever the next thing is that catches my eye and becomes an obsession.
Please note: Prices for available works are available upon request. Not all pieces are available.
There is more new, more now to behold. Right this way.
I also teach.
